- 1.0 Draft - just go straight through, beginning to end, focus on plot and character
- Build a revision guide - an outline for a revision
- 2.0 fix major plot and character problems, basically all the stuff that the author can fix
- Use a list of most important to least important things
- Another list can start but limit the scope of each revision
- 3.0 Alpha Readers - professionals
- 4.0 Beta Readers - audience
- 5.0 Polish - cut about 10%, cut passive voice, make things active, use stronger verbs
- 6.0 Copy edit and Proofread
